RECORD was initially set up as the pilot Local Record Centre for England in 2000 under a National Biodiversity Network (NBN) project. Steve McWilliam was appointed as Manager to develop the centre through its implementation / establishment phase. He was with us in this role until 2007 and he still plays a very active role in wildlife recording in the region today.
RECORD’s official launch took place in 2002 and we achieved charitable status on 6 February 2003.
Following several temporary office locations, we moved into accommodation at Chester Zoo in October 2001 where you can now find us in our office in the carpark of Cedar House.
