This means she has a very varied role involving interacting with lots of different people. For example organising and attending outreach events and recording days, delivering training for community members, supporting our volunteers in their roles and managing university placement students.
Natasha is responsible for looking after the data side of RECORD. This involves sorting enquiry requests, maintaining and updating our record databases or supporting ongoing projects such as the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS). You can either find her at her desk sorting through our many records, or out and about on a survey identifying species - Natasha specialises in mammals but happy to help where she can.
Matt is responsible for co-leading the delivery of Chester Zoo's Nature Reserve Monitoring Project, part of the Zoo's 2017-2027 Biodiversity Plan. Matt also writes annual reports on this monitoring work.
Sarah’s role is to identify ancient woodlands across Cheshire that were missed during the creation of the original Ancient Woodland Inventory in 1988. This is done using historical maps, botanical records and survey information, as well as other information they didn't have previously, including LiDAR (Light detection and Ranging), to update the Ancient Woodland Inventory and to help protect more woodlands across Cheshire.
Gavin’s role is split between the Ancient Woodland Inventory Update (AWIU) project and the office's more general data management tasks. Like Sarah, Gavin spends much of his time on the AWIU, collecting and collating as much historical evidence as possible which the existence of various Cheshire woodlands since 1600. The rest of the week Gavin supports Natasha in managing our incoming flow of biological records and responding to any record search requests from other organisations.
