What's included in a data search?
Standard Report (species of conservation concern)
Format
The report includes:
- An Excel file containing details of all species records.
- A PDF report containing protected, notable and invasive non-native species records, including maps showing record locations.
- Boundary maps and basic details of Local Wildlife Sites and Geodiversity Sites as part of the above PDF. Please note that Local Wildlife Site information is not available for areas in Cheshire West and Chester. We do not provide statutory site information as part of our data searches, this is available instead from Magic.
Species records in GIS format are available at an extra cost. Local Wildlife Site/Geodiversity site boundaries are not available in GIS format.
Species
'Species of conservation concern' includes the following designations:
- Berne Convention - Appendix 1, Appendix 2 and Appendix 3
- Birds Directive - Annex 1, Annex 2.1, Annex 2.2
- Convention on Migratory Species - Appendix 1, Appendix 2, ASCOBANS, Annex II and EUROBATS Annex I
- EC Cites - Annex A, Annex B, Annex C and Annex D
- Habitats Directive - Annex 2 Non-priority Species, Annex 2 Priority Species, Annex 4 and Annex 5
- Section 41 (England) of the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006 (NERC)
- Protection of Badgers Act (1992)
- The Conservation (Natural Habitats, &c.) Regulations 2010 - Schedule 2, Schedule 4 and Schedule 5
- Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 - Schedule 1, Schedule 5 and Schedule 8
- IUCN Red Data List - Extinct, Extinct in the Wild, Critically Endangered, Endangered, Vulnerable, Near Threatened and Least Concern
- Birds of Conservation Concern (BoCC) - Amber and Red
- Nationally Rare and Scarce - Nationally Rare, Nationally Rare Marine Species, Nationally Scarce, Nationally Scarce Marine Species
- UK Biodiversity Action Plan (UK BAP) - Priority Species
- Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP) Species
- Invasive Non-Native Species
Cost
A standard 2km search from a single grid reference point falling entirely within our boundary is £250 + VAT. Any other search areas will be quoted individually.
Single species or single species group search
Format
Reports containg records of a single species (for example GCN, barn owl etc.) or a single species group (e.g. all bats) are presented in the same format as our standard report (see above), including site information where available.
Cost
All costs are calculated based on area and will be quoted individually, but as a general guide for searches falling entirely within our boundary:
- Single species (e.g. GCN) 2km or under buffer search from a central grid reference: £90 +VAT
- Small species group (e.g. bats) 2km or under buffer search from a central grid reference: £97.50 +VAT
- For larger species groups or selected species from different groups costs will be calculated individually
Extras
- Local Wildlife Site citations (only available in Halton, Warrington and Wirral): £35 +VAT per citation
- Species records in GIS format: £40 +VAT minimum
- Digitisation charge (for using a map image to calculate search area): £35 +VAT minimum
- Express service: extra 50% of total enquiry cost
