WHAT HAVE YOU SPOTTED?
Make sure to let us know what wildlife you’ve found in your garden. We'd love to receive garden wildlife records in any format, but an easy way to send them in and have a look at what others have been spotting is through using our iNaturalist Project.
Here's how to do it:
- Download the iNaturalist app and set up an account OR signup to make an iNaturalist account online.
- Become a member of the My Patch project to help us track observations for the campaign.
- Get out and spot garden wildlife! Try to get a photo of what you've seen if you can, or a sound recording (for example a bird singing). You can take photos on your phone or upload a photo to the website.
- In the app or online, click 'Observe' or 'Upload' when you want to add what you've found. If you can get a photo / recording add it here. This means others can help you identify it, but if you don't have anything other than an observation you can still upload it.
- Add in what species you think it is, there will be some options to help you choose.
- Add in the other details. If using the app it will already know your location, if you're on the website you'll need to search for it on the map that comes up.
- If you're within the Cheshire / Wirral / Warrington / Halton area, your observation will AUTOMATICALLY be added to the My Patch project. You don't need to do anything extra, but you can go back the project page to view your observation once it’s done and compare with others taking part.
