Spotlight Sessions

Spotlight sessions are informal 'give it a go' identification sessions.

Spotlight sessions run once a month at Chester Zoo, normally on the second Wednesday of the month. Our invertebrate sessions are run in partnership with the Tanyptera Project. Each session has a different theme, for example previous sessions include: Trees, Ladybirds, Bees, Wildflowers, Seashore Finds and many more.

During the session, we have specimens and photos on-hand to practice your identification. If you’re new to things, we’ll help get you started and work together to understand what features to look out for. For anyone with an existing interest, it’s a great chance to find out some more detail about a particular species group by practising identification in a friendly setting.
